"Adorned with lively floral hand block print, this TLC’s Full Ornate Kosa Silk Saree with the applique work on pallu and tastefully done dual shade imparts a regal vibe. One of the most popular sarees in India that are much loved for their beauty, comfort and sturdiness, Kosa silk sarees are produced in Chhattisgarh by the Dewangan tribe which resides in the Gondwana forest belt. Known for the beautiful designs that get woven into them, the typical patterns like the Jaala (net) and Fera are used to create unique artistic designs inspired by nature, tribal tales and mythological stories. The main distinguishing factor however is that a Kosa silk fabric is produced using threads from a special type of silk worm called Kosa that is rather rare and its cultivation is laborious.
Maintenance:- Dry Clean only.
For Storage:- Change folds at regular intervals. When storing for long time in a box, wrap with paper. Always use hanger for storage.
The product is hand-woven and hand block printed by the Artisans of Champa, Chhattisgarh. The best way to check the purity of Kosa Silk is by burning a few threads of the fabric. If authentic, the burnt threads leave a residue quite unlike ash which is black in color, and has an unpleasant odor.Being a hand-woven piece, unevenness in the selvedge and weave could be expected. Characteristic imperfections associated with hand block printing may be observed, and colors may fade or bleed due to the traditional dyeing and printing process employed. The length of the saree is 5.5 m. The length of the blouse piece is 0.8 m.
